"HACIA UN NUEVO CONTRATO SOCIAL DE LA CIENCIA"

Del 23 al 25 de septiembre de 2009 se realizó en Buenos Aires, Argentina, el II Foro Regional sobre Políticas de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación en América Latina y el Caribe.

El Congreso de los Diputados vota este miércoles, día 16 de diciembre, una proposición no de ley para proteger la agricultura convencional y ecológica frente a los transgénicos, solicitando la suspensión del cultivo de organismos modificados genéticamente.

This report explores the impact of the adoption of genetically engineered (GE) corn, soybean, and cotton on pesticide use in the United States, drawing principally on data from the United States Department of Agriculture. The most striking finding is that GE crops have been responsible for an increase of 383 million pounds of herbicide use in the U.S. over the first 13 years of commercial use of GE crops (1996- 2008).
